Child Company de UNSIGNED
Hidden away in the Ocón Valley—a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve in the northern
foothills of the Iberian Massif—Casa La Rad is the largest and most biodiverse wine
estate in La Rioja.
Casa La Rad’s 112 hectares of vines average more than thirty years of age, including
33 hectares planted in 1974 and 1975. Vineyard plantings range in altitude from 515 to
675 meters, higher than most of Rioja Alta, but occupy only a small fraction of the total
800-hectare property. The remaining land is home to first-growth woodland, olive
groves, and other complementary agriculture.
Our winemaker, Barbara Palacios, has chosen to craft wines without the constraints of
Rioja designations like Reserva and Crianza, choosing instead to prioritize minimal
intervention approaches that allow our unique and complex terroirs to shine through in
every bottle.
