DOMAINE MAGALONE: MAKING PROVENCE ROSÉS ACCESSIBLE TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE
Vivien Paulmyer spent 10 years exploring the vineyards of Provence and the Southern Rhône as a buyer for mass retailers. It was therefore quite natural that he decided in 2017 to settle in Aix-en-Provence to launch his own Provence rosé business: Les Monopôles. Vivien is a wine lover and likes his passion to be shared by as many people as possible. Far from an elitist vision, he wants to make wine accessible to the most modest and it works. His Legrand Bain rosé cuvée (AOC Coteaux d’Aix en Provence), noticed during our tastings, totals an annual production of 200,000 bottles. It is widely distributed in mass retailers at an extremely affordable price for a Provence wine: “The wine market is suffering in the face of competition from beer in particular. It is important to offer fresh, light, aromatic wines at the best price to revive a positive dynamic". Vivien Paulmyer does not stop there, he is developing his own vineyard at the same time: He has already planted 3 ha, and plans to plant 5 more next year. Driven by a deep environmental sensitivity, he is committed to responsible organic farming, to leave a healthy and living land to future generations: "Organic must be further promoted by politicians, to encourage winegrowers to take the plunge. A strong response must be proposed in the face of the increased risk of loss of yield, or even complete harvests in the event of severe fungal attacks. The customer pays attention above all to the appellation and the price. If an organic bottle of the same appellation is sold 30% more expensive, he will prefer to buy conventional or HVE".
