Sommelier Battle: The (Ir)Relevance of Old World vs New World

Our beloved format at Wine Paris: the sommelier battle brought to you by ASI x Vinexposium.

This year our sommeliers will discuss the irrelevance or relevance of the terms ‘Old World’ and ‘New World’: with so many changes and challenges, like climate change, winemaking technologies evoltuion, shifting consumer preferences, do we still stick to these definitions?

Come and join our discussion lead by Marc Almert and Pascaline Lepeltier: they have chosen some wines to taste along and highlight some of the points of their discussion.
  • Marc Almert is the Best Sommelier of the World 2019 and Chef Sommelier at Baur au Lac, Zurich.
  • Pascaline Lepeltier is the Runner-up at the ASI Best Sommelier of Europe, Africa and the Middle East 2024 and 4th at the ASI Best Sommelier of the World 2023, she is Beverage Director at Chambers, NYC.
