Child Company of Hine
Since 1838, Monnet has been one of the historical signatures of Cognac. Its founder, Jean-Gabriel Monnet, innovator and visionary, developed his company and built revolutionary cellars in Cognac (1 of the 5 largest Cognac places (2ha) located in the city center being the first to include every step of the Cognac production process in one place).
So was his son, Jean Monnet, also known as one of the Fathers of the European Union. His openness to the world was a family legacy. When he was a child, business visits and dinners were held in the Monnet family house, and it was around the table that the art of hospitality was born. Cognac is a bright way of bringing people together by celebrating a certain “art de vivre”.
Monnet has made the Salamander its emblem for nearly two centuries embodying all its values: the power to endure and the one to create the sacred fire and constancy. The Salamander symbolizes Monnet's commitment to offering cognacs aged to their fullest potential, warm, smooth and lively cognacs. It also embodies the vision of the cognac trade, made of audacity and creation.
The company exports its cognacs known for their "sunny" style: warm cognacs dominated by fruity and floral notes. This style was immortalized by the renowned illustrator Cappiello in his famous painting "Du soleil dans un verre" (Sunshine in a glass), made for Monnet in the 1920’s. This poster gave the brand an aura that it still carries today.
Monnet owns 25 hectares of vineyards in the Fins Bois region. A team of dedicated and passionate people is involved in the daily work of our Domaine and ensures the transmission of traditions, the will to innovate, to push boundaries and to go always further in the quality in a shifted, uninhibited, non-conformist spirit.
Monnet cognacs are elaborated from the blending of 6 different growths which all bring a particularity. At Monnet, tradition is not a fixed law. It moves and improves constantly throughout experiences and research. Monnet mainly owes its quality to an innovative parcellary approach in which the cellar master seeks the perfect terroir combination to achieve the perfect blend. The glow and richness of a Monnet Cognac lies on the complementarity of the eaux-de-vie used in the blend.
Monnet claims to be « the Bright Side of Cognac » that pulls the brand away from the older style of consumption and turns it into the reference of Joie de Vivre and a bright moment of pleasure.
The Monnet range includes Monnet VS, Monnet VSOP, Monnet XO Flamboyant, Monnet XXO.
